Q: I would like more information on the Ellegante machines ability to trim jump stitches-when to use this feature and when to turn it off.
A: The fabric, stabilizer and project type can play a large part as to when you want to use the trim feature or manually trim jump stitches. Click here for a useful instruction page that discusses when you might want to leave this feature on and when you might want to turn it off.

Q: I have an Ellegante and have saved designs to my USB Mass Storage Device (jump drive or flash drive), but when I put it in my machine I get an error message, "USB media error" or "USB not loaded".
A: There are a couple of reasons for these error messages to display:
  • Your Mass Storage Device (jump/flash drive) needs to be completely clear before the designs are saved to the drive and can be read by the machine. This is done by formatting the drive. See instructions below.
  • Your Mass Storage Device contains more than .pes or .dst design files. If you have saved any other type of file or document to the drive, even if it is no longer on the drive, then this is interfering with your machine reading the design information. You will need to format the drive using the instructions below.
How to format your Mass Storage Device (jump or flash drive)*
  1. Save, copy, or move any file(s) on the jump/flash drive that you do not want to lose. Formatting this drive will completely remove and delete all files.
  2. Left click on the “Start” button and then select “Explore” from the pop-up menu.
  3. Right click on the drive recognized as Mass Storage Device (jump/flash) drive and
  4. select "Format" from the pop-up menu.
  5. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the procedure.
*Note, instructions are written for Windows XP operating system and may vary slightly on your computer.

Q: I am attempting to retrieve designs from a floppy drive attached to my Baby Lock Ellegante and receive the message: "USB media not loaded. Load USB media." What is wrong?
A:
  1. Prepare a floppy disk by reformatting the disk on a computer.  Select a PES or DST format design within the 180mm X 300mm design page and write this design to the floppy disk.  This must be a design that is not compressed (zipped).  Check the floppy disk that is is not in the locked position.
  2. With the Baby Lock Ellegante turned off plug the external floppy drive into the USB port of the Baby Lock Ellegante version 2.03.  Turn the Ellegante on and let the external floppy drive and the Ellegante initialize together.
  3. A green light on the external floppy drive will turn on then off in this initialization.  Select the embroidery or embroidery edit mode on the Baby Lock Ellegante.
  4. Insert the floppy disk into the external floppy drive.  Select the USB icon on the Baby Lock Ellegante.  The designs will be displayed on the screen.  Select a design. If the designs are not displayed and "USB media not loaded.  Load USB media." is displayed, touch close and select the USB icon on the Baby Lock Ellegante again.  It may take two attempts because of the speed of the floppy drive.  If the design still cannot read from the floppy, contact your Baby Lock retailer to evaluate the external floppy drive.
