Materials:

  • 45”wide fabric
  • 1-7/16” pearl snap(and supplies to attach snap)
  • 1 hook
  • Thread
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Ruler
  • Gift Tag

Tools:

Steps:

  1. Cut a piece of fabric 45”x2-1/2”. To make cutting the long length easier fold the fabric several times first.

  2. Press the two ends of fabric up about 1/4”. This will give the lanyard finished ends.

  3. Fold entire length of fabric in half and press.

  4. Open fabric out flat and fold each edge to the center fold line and press.

  5. Fold fabric in half and press.

  6. Starting with the open side first top-stitch all the way around the folded piece of fabric. (Using a Bi-level foot can aid in topstitching on the uneven fabric thickness.

  7. Add a snap to the ends following manufacturer’s instructions. Lay the lanyard as it should be worn to make sure the snaps are placed on the correct sides.

  8. Fold lanyard in half and feed through the hook’s loop. Again layout the lanyard as it should be worn to make sure everything is lying as it should.

    1. Slightly angle the straps and sew back and forth near the hook a couple of times to hold the hook in place.

  9. Punch a hole in the cute gift card and wrap up for a useful handmade teacher gift.
