Steps:

  1. Cut strips at 4.5” x 18” with the stretch-iest part going lengthwise.

  2. Fold in half lengthwise right sides together.

  3. Serge along the long edge with a 3-thread wide or 4-thread overlock stitch OR use a stretch stitch on your sewing machine creating a ¼” to 3/8” seam allowance if you don’t have a serger.

  4. Turn right side out and press with the seam along the center back.

  5. Press a ½” in on one end. Insert the other raw edge into the pressed edge and topstitch with a straight stitch.

  7. Using the Button Fitting Foot (M) and engaging the clear built-in shank creator on the foot.

  8. Slide your button in the foot centering the holes (do the front holes first if you are using a 4-hole button then move to the back holes).

  9. Find the Button Sewing Stitch (looks like a bar tack) on your machine.

  10. Use the handwheel to check that the needle will not hit the button.

  11. Once you are certain that the needle will clear both holes on the button sew the button in place.

  12. Stitch it again for extra security.
